Who wouldn’t want to get married where to so many legends have got married? Marylebone Town Hall famous weddings include celebrities; Sir Paul McCartney, Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit, Ringo Starr, Antonio Bandera + Melanie Griffith, Cilla Black, Sean Bean and of course more recently many influencers.
Weddings at Marylebone Town Hall are iconic and if you’re after those city vibes and a venue that matches perfectly with editorial style wedding photos then where better to get married than London’s most famous wedding location? As an analogue wedding photographer I really think that Marylebone Town Hall weddings suit 35mm film photography perfectly, maybe it’s the fact this this is an authentic London venue having held weddings there for over 100 years now so it almost keeps the film photography at this venue alive, or maybe it’s the whole city chic style that suits film wedding photography so much.
Okay so not only is there the iconic backdrop of the front of this grand London venue, and the marble staircase inside, my favourite part has to be the long marble and wood panelled corridor adorned with large sash windows where the light floods in perfectly! As a natural light photographer that is obsessed with both luminous light and pockets of light, this corridor has it all, meaning I am in my element; a photographers heaven creating art! And even when you step away from the light, you get to have cool direct flash vibes walking down that long corridor. Just look at these photos to see why I love Marylebone weddings so much.

The Pimlico Room has the capacity for the couple plus 20 seated guests. I love this room, it's actually quite similar in terms of colour and decor to the Mayfair Room other than the seating, and they really are gorgeous with a lot of natural light, neutral tones yet an a touch of elegance.
The Westminster Room is the largest of all the rooms with a capacity for the couple plus 100 seated guests. This is obviously popular and the only option for large weddings, it’s spacious with wood panneled walls and exits directly into the middle of the corridor allowing more room for a face on exit photo. You can see a lot of photos of weddings in the Westminster room over on my blog.
The Marylebone Room has the capacity for the couple plus 12 seated guests. It feels very intimate with dark wood paneled walls and a grand fireplace, I do really like this for an evening (after dark) ceremony.
The Soho Room has the capacity for the couple plus 13 seated guests. One of my favourites for smaller, intimate weddings, there’s a relaxed vibe with two large sofas, yet very similar to Pimlico, and from a photographer perspective I have the best view I could ask for, it's beautiful.
The Blue room, I do like this room but from a photographers perspective it is quite restrictive when at full capacity, however when not at full capacity, it’s great if I can get a seat at the edge of the centre 2ndor 3rd row, this means I don’t need to stand in front of people blocking their view during the ceremony to get a great shot.
The Mayfair Room has the capacity for the couple plus 30 guests. This is a very modern neutral room, quite minimalistic in design and lovely and light. It's more accessible from a photography perspective than the Knightsbridge room.
The Paddington Room has the capacity for the couple plus 8 guests, it's the only room I haven’t photographed a ceremony in.

This City of London Registry Office has 7 different rooms available for Westminster ceremonies. I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph weddings in 6 of these so far, just take a browse at these below:

A Day to Remember weddings website is really informative with brochures, links to popular London wedding vendors, The Old Marylebone Town Hall history, details and specification of each available ceremony room within the town hall, as well as endless information on pricing and Old Marylebone Town Hall wedding costs. You can book onto one of their open days and visit London’s most famous wedding location although many just book without even viewing as there are so many photos online.
Prices start at £800 but the calendar on the A Day to Remember website will give you the best pricing guide. The price includes the room and use of the public areas of the building for photos within your time slot, two registrars and your first copy of your marriage certificate.
Weddings here are low fuss yet stylish and have a very chilled relaxed vibe for your London wedding making it as intimate as you like. From Joe Malone fragrant and seasonal displays of (faux) flowers, they really do pull out all the stops here, and when you exit celebrating as newlyweds you can expect car horns tooting you and drivers by shouting Congratulations out of their windows.
Expect efficiency – they follow a strict schedule for weddings here due to its population and the number of weddings they hold each day. Timings can be tight so it’s really important your photographers is aware of just how long they will have at each section for photos. It’s also important to only have one large group photo on the steps outside immediately after your confetti throw, and then move to the side of the steps (by a lion) as this ensures the next couples exit runs smoothly. Any other group photos and couple portraits can then be taken on the side of the steps on in one of the beautiful alcoves behind the pillars. Being a Old Marylebone Town Hall recommended photographer, I know exactly what is expected of me and will ensure you get stunning photos within the timeframe given.

Iconic London Wedding Venue Tips
For a civil marriage ceremony in the UK please note that you must give notice of intent to marry at least 29 days before the ceremony, though allowing 3-6 months is recommended if you can.
Many couples choose to have an intimate legal ceremony at Marylebone and then a big destination wedding or celebration overseas on a later date. This means the couple can avoid legal marriage requirements for their destination wedding and really personalise that with a celebrant and their own vows. Of course, this also means they can wear a completely different outfit and style for their Marylebone wedding leaning into the London city chic vibe with a fashion editorial element to their look, getting the best of both!
If you’re having drinks at the Landmark or going to somewhere like The Greenhouses at One Marylebone for food, if the weather is dry then consider walking there with your guest or if some are elderly just walk with your friends. It takes about 15 minutes, it’s a lovely walk, it makes for gorgeous candid photos of you and your guests, you can even stop on the way at York Gate and Park Crescent for some couple or Wedding party photos.
How to pronounce Marylebone: The correct pronounciation for Marylebone is not “MarYLbone” or “MarYL-Ebone” but (phonetically) MarLY-bone.
Other locations by Marylebone Town Hall for couple photos are just over the road at Dorset Square, it’s a pretty upper class London street with a zebra crossing for those classic “London shots” and there's red London buses passing by in the background on a regular basis.
Behind Old Marylebone Town Hall you’ll find Thornton Place a small quiet mews popular for photos.
My favourite Marylebone photo hotspot near to Marylebone town hall is Park Crescent, I love the grand pillars, the whole vibe is really similar to the Town Hall but also the shape of the crescent means there’s plenty of photo opportunities for your couple photos without the distraction of cars in the background and as it’s away from the main road it’s not quite as busy with members of the public. There are so many roads in Marylebone though that are perfect for editorial style couple photos including York Gate, Marylebone High Street with the zebra crossings and cafés for cool city photos, and of course you can travel a little further out to somewhere like Little Venice or a personal favourite location of mine is Wilton Crescent leading onto Grosvenor Crescent and just round the corner you’ll find Motcomb Street, which not only gives an old London pretty street vibe but it has Pantechnicon – a restaurant with an enviable backdrop of pillars and seating out the front perfect on a sunny day for drinks, a red telephone box opposite, or The Alfred Tennyson pub for cute photos outside.
Old Marylebone Town Hall confetti: Confetti is only allowed to be thrown outside on the main steps. You can bring your own or pre-order and purchase directly from the Town Hall.
Westminster Room: I’ve had couples book me because they’ve seen photos taken in this room looking too orange and loving the fact mine aren’t like this. It’s clear that at Old Marylebone Town Hall they have really thought about what lighting will compliment each room, as in the Westminster Room they could have quite easily added tungsten lights which is a very warm light particularly when combined with wood paneled walls, instead they have you installed LED lighting above the wood shining onto the white ceiling, the only warm lights are the small lamps in the corners having little impact on photos. It really is just important that your photographer fully understands their camera settings, white balance, ISO, kelvin temperatures etc, and even be a little more advanced with post production if they haven’t got it right in camera.
Other beautiful Registry offices in London:
If you feel that the Old Marylebone Town Hall does not suit you as a couple or you require an alternative location in London, then there are many other popular Town Halls in London including Chelsea Old Town Hall, Hackney Town Hall and Islington Town Hall, all of these are really beautiful for a London Registry Office wedding or London Elopement.
I’m often asked by my couples if I know of any restaurants near Marylebone Town Hall for small intimate wedding receptions or even larger wedding venues near Marylebone. Below I’ve listed some that have been popular with my couples including some pubs near Marylebone town hall as I know some prefer to go for drinks in between. You’ll also find a list of hotels in Marylebone or close by that are perfect for bride or groom prep, and a brief guide to travelling to Marylebone.
Due to the tight schedule at Marylebone town hall, I recommend limiting your amount of formal group photos, especially for Friday and Saturday weddings when it's much busier, a maximum of 8 groups is best, so you can ensure enough time for those iconic Marylebone couple portraits.

Personally I nearly always drive into Marylebone and although there's no Old Marylebone Town Hall parking as such, depending on the length of coverage I'm booked for and where the reception (if any) takes place I would usually park at Portman Square car park which is right next door to Nobu in Marylebone and a simple straight walk down to Old Marylebone Town Hall taking less than ten minutes. It's nice and simple for me to get back even if the reception is a bit further out and I take a cab. For receptions finishing late at night and much further out of Marylebone then I tend to park near the reception venue and get a tube or cab across to Marylebone, or even uber.
There is also an NCP multi-storey car park directly opposite the town hall. On weekends many of the nearby road particularly opposite near Dorset Square have free road parking for up to 4 hours.
