What a truly magical Southend Barns Winter Wedding this was.
If you are a regular visitor to my blog you would have read many other posts telling you all about this gorgeous venue. It’s a lovely unique rustic barn with numerous authentic features, and with the fantastic design it is also clean, elegant and modern. Now on to the WEDDING… It’s always lovely to photograph a wedding where you know the Bride & Groom, I’ve known Jay for many years and many of their friends who attended the wedding, so it was a pleasure to be able to capture their day for them, I enjoyed catching up with them all so much that I ended up working overtime right through to the very end of the evening reception!
Bev worked with me again this day, second day in row Bev, we did well 🙂 Bev spent the morning with Jay and the guys over at the Blacksmiths, it was a very chilled morning where she managed to capture some gorgeous natural shots of Jay, his son Archie and best man Steve getting ready and then joining the rest of the guys for drinks and laughs.
I had the easiest morning ever – with things running over Sam ended up staying at the salon and having both her hair and make-up applied there, so didn’t actually join me at this Southend Barns winter wedding until not long before the ceremony, fortunately we managed to squeeze in some detail shots and still capture lots of getting ready shots of a surprisingly relaxed Sam! It was so nice to see her so happy and taking everything in her stride, there and then I knew this was going to be a lovely day. Sam wore a sophisticated classy Sottero & Midgley gown from Proposals in Chichester. She paired this with a cute fur shrug hired from Proposals, along with an Arianna headdress also from Proposals which Sam had custom made into a birdcage. Her look had a real Southend barns winter wedding feel about it, I just loved it. Sam’s maids wore long soft pastel lilac dresses from Coast. Also in the wedding party were Jay and Sams’ nieces and their two adorable children Archie and Ava. Archie was amazing for the camera, he loved it, posed perfectly and was so polite and funny, he is such a lovely boy, an absolute credit to Jay and Sam, Bev totally fell in love with him! And as for Ava, what an absolute little cutie, I love this photo below of her falling asleep on Daddys shoulder at the end of the ceremony. Super sweet. The ceremony was actually the darkest I’ve seen it yet for the Dairy Barn yet it was extremely romantic again focusing on the Southend Barns winter wedding theme, coupled with a very happy couple and super excited pageboy, Archie!
The heavens certainly opened for their wedding day and so we decided to keep the majority of photos inside of the Dairy Barn, being that there’s lots of light white space to work with this was ideal. Fortunately the rain did settle and lighten for a bit before the wedding breakfast so we captured some quick shots of the wedding party outdoors along with some romantic in the garden and field over back. We even had a little sunset!Â
The big evening!!! Their Wedding Breakfast and evening reception took place in the Threshing Barn which had been decorated with huge candelabras, all flowers for their Sam and Jay’s wedding were by Manor Nursery Florist, and both the barns looked outstanding, a real Southend Barns winter Wedding – totally magical with fairy lights wrapped around the wooden beams and beading hanging from the candelabras, it was simple, warm, cosy and ultra romantic. The food was of course by the amazing Field & Fork and as always they did Southend Barns proud with their delicious food and exquisite service. The speeches were awesome and of course these followed by lots of drinking and dancing!Â
Jay and Sam had chosen one of my favourite bands, The Fabulations London live band from Alive Network agency, I’ve worked with these guys so many times now and I love them, they are turkey outstanding and always create an incredible atmosphere. As expected everyone was dancing and the bubbles were flowing in the true style that I would expect from this crowd! I had such a giggle and as you can see from the photos so did everyone else!
A big shout out to Ant and SamE for cutting some epic dances moves and another big shout goes to Marianne from the Fabulations for, well, doing your thing.
A huge congratulations to this lovely couple, Jay and Sam, I can’t thank you enough for choosing me as your wedding photographer and allowing me to be a part of your day. Also a big thank you to all of the guests for being such a giggle creating a fabulous atmosphere – hopefully the photos speak for themselves.. I wish you every bit of happiness as husband and wife and I hope you love looking through these photos of your Southend Barns Winter Wedding. I can’t wait to show you the rest.
Just one last thing I’d like to say is a massive thanks to Bev for your amazing photography skills second shooting for me all weekend! It was a long cold one, but lots of fun and as always you were of course by no means just a second shooter. I absolutely love working you with you, thank you again!
Enjoy! Nicci xoxo
