Wow, just wow, what an adorable couple Tim and I had the pleasure of photographing, and as far as wedding venues go, The Tithe Barn wedding venue in Hampshire situated a few miles West of Petersfield in Ditcham is quite something. It is perhaps one of the most awe-inspiring spaces I’ve come across, one of the venues that just take your breath away the moment you step inside. The simple way in which Tom and Kat had chosen to decorate the barn with candles, and pastel coloured flowers I felt really emphasised the cathedral like grandeur of the space and gave it a light airy and romantic feel for a summer wedding.
The day began for me with Kat at her childhood home near Southampton, while Tim spent some time with Tom and the guys before heading to Petersfield for The Tithe Barn wedding. It was exciting to see staff and family members busily preparing for the day ahead. Tom and Kat had chosen the most scrumptious of colours and styles to compliment their day, with the girls in a soft shade of pink and the men in matching pink ties and classy blue suits. Kat’s gorgeous lace dress was perfect for her tiny frame, with her dark hair tousled down one side she looked simply stunning. This pair make such a good looking couple, I was in my element photographing them. Despite there being a light rain shower and being a bit overcast for parts of the day, the sun came out for the evening and was perfect timing to capture the “money shot” – my favourite sunset photos! Well done to Kat for braving it through the crops in heels 😉
One of my favourite parts of every wedding day is the speeches, and with Tom’s emotional speech and his brother Stewart’s hilarious Best Man speech, they were amazing and even had my second (by no means second) photographer Tim crying! I was so pleased that due to the size of the Barn, we were able to move around freely, without drawing attention to ourselves, and get some great reaction shots to Stew’s very funny speech. We thoroughly enjoyed this wedding, and I really hope I get the opportunity to photograph this lovely couple again some day. The wedding day always seems to go by so quickly, I can only imagine what it’s like for the bride and groom themselves after all those months of planning, that’s one of the reasons why I love my job – I get to preserve all those memories for couples to look back on. Before we knew it, it was time for Tom and Kat to take to the floor for their first dance together as husband and wife, and party the night away, aided by some great live music by Simon from Male Wedding Singer and some fun evening props!
CONGRATULATIONS Tom and Kat, I really hope you enjoy looking through your photos and reminiscing on the best day of your lives. I wish you all the very best to you both together forever as Mr & Mrs Goldsmith.
The Tithe Barn is situated close to the South Downs on the boarder of Hampshire and West Sussex, in the small hamlet of Ditcham that dates back to Saxon times. The land was given to the Abbey of Durford by the Lord of the Manor of Harting in 1273. The origin of the Barn is shrouded in mystery but is now a Grade II listed building that has been restored to its near original stage.
