Simon and Lucy are both friends of mine, and Simon is also one of my photography students. With original plans to marry in May 2014, Lucy took me completely by surprise when she told me in the middle of July that they were getting married on 30th August this year!!!
Yes that’s right – they had approximately 7 weeks to plan a wedding! Fortunately I had no bookings for that date and it also happened to be Lucy’s birthday, so they surprised many of their friends and family by inviting them to a birthday and engagement party… Obviously they had to tell the small number of guests attending the ceremony, but this took their evening guests by surprise when they turned up to a wedding reception.
Lucy looked absolutely stunning in an elegant midi dress and an ivory birdcage headdress made by her close friend Leigh who is a Milliner. There were also lots of DIY decorations for the marquee which was purchased by Lucy’s parents for their gardens at their Nursery in Birdham. Lucy is the owner of Our Vintage Tea Party so had lots of bits and bobs already to help with accessorizing the day. Lucy’s make-up was by Lucy Ward from ID who I would highly recommend, she is definitely on of the best!
Si and Lucy married in the Assembly Rooms in Chichester late in the day after enjoying lunch separately with friends. Si wore a grey suit and soft pink tie, and I must say, with Si being in the building trade, I haven’t seen him looking quite so dapper before! You scrubbed up amazingly Si!!
The bridesmaids wore cute little dresses from Asos, which fitted this gorgeous English Country Garden wedding theme perfectly, while their flowergirl – their daughter, Emelia, wore a stunning fuschia pink dress from Monsoon and as always looked adorable.
I loved spending the day capturing a friends big day, especially friends who I can see are so in love. In fact you can read all about Simon and Lucy’s proposal on Lucy’s blog here.
I’m so happy for you both and I can’t wait to show you the rest of your wedding photos. I wish you all the very best for the future as hubby and wifey and so pleased that I can be a part of it! hehe.
