Southend Barns wedding venue makes for a perfect backdrop for a wedding.

Southend Barns with the bride walking to the wedding ceremony in Galia Lahav Wedding dress
In my opinion – this venue is perfect – proof is in the pudding as they say – they WON best barn venue in the UK Wedding Awards 2018 with You and Your Wedding magazine, Hitched website, and Perfect Wedding magazine, and I am very pleased to offer discounted rates for wedding photography there as it’s my most local and one of my favourite venues.

Watch this slideshow for a real vision into this glorious venue and read more below about Southend Barns wedding venue.

This is Southend Barns

A Luxury Wedding Barn on the West Sussex Coastline
I photographed one of the first weddings to be held at Southend Barns Wedding venue in the Summer of 2012 – the beautiful Rowena and Rowan’s Wedding. They booked this venue based on the owner, Mariella’s vision, it was literally a building site when they booked so they were taking a big risk – yet the best one ever as when I arrived at the barns to see it a week before the wedding I was blown away and so excited about all of the dreamy photo opportunities here, particularly the log walls perfect for hanging a wedding dress, suit or shoes from. Since then I have photographed over 50 weddings here, at all times of year and in all weathers – every one of them an absolute vision! This is actually one of the most notable aspects of this venue for me – that there are so many photo opportunities both indoors and out regardless of the weather.

Southend Barns really is one of the finest wedding venues in the South of England. From rustic milk churns to the fur throws on the benches, blankets for your guests on chilly nights and a fabulous open fire pit which is perfect for toasting marshmallows at the end of the evening.  The venue is set on a working farm in the stunning Sussex countryside, this lovingly restored barn complex is my most local venue, just a 15 minute drive, and features a magnificent 200-year-old Threshing Barn, which oozes rustic charm with exposed authentic wooden beams and iron wrought chandeliers – this, combined with stylish contemporary touches. The barn is a blank canvas so you can decorate it to suit your theme and I’ve tried to show some variations in my slideshow above, or you can leave it naturally gorgeous with its’ rustic features.

Southend Barns wedding venue has two options for your Ceremony and both are fully licensed for all civil ceremonies and partnerships. The Dairy Barn with a heavenly 22 metre aisle and handmade sweet chestnut benches positioned like church pews is one of the only Barn ceremony rooms that has a Church feel to it. It also oozes natural light which floods in through the windows and reflects off the white walls – perfect for beautiful photos without the need for a flash and makes for an idyllic setting for couples to exchange their vows. In wet and cold weather I have taken many formal group photos in here and even romantic Bride & Groom portraits as you’ll see in my gallery. For warmer weather and dry weddings you can say your vows outside in Southend Barns very own Secret Garden, it really is in them most idyllic setting to become husband and wife.

The new Secret Garden at Southend Barns Wedding venue in Chichester

I know I keep going on about photo opportunities but they really are endless here, the barns are surrounded by attractive landscaped gardens, beautiful sunsets over the South Downs and tranquil hideaways, providing a romantic backdrop for couple portraits. While the picturesque courtyard that lies at the heart of the venue, with its luscious lawn, well-kept pots, rustic milk churns and Cornish slate patio lined with dairy inspired milk churns – is the perfect spot for family formals and for mingling with guests over drinks and canapés.  There’s even a romantic ambience through the evenings with up-lights, fairy lights and twinkling lanterns. Topping it off with the relaxing log fire pits, sumptuous sofas, warm throws, outdoor fire heaters and toasted marshmallows to enjoy a truly magical evening setting.
I just have to add that the staff at Southend Barns wedding venue are so professional and friendly, they are a pleasure to work with and even from my clients I have only ever heard amazing things. I’ve shared so many wonderful experiences with the staff and I look forward to many more.
Anyway enough of me waffling on, I think the photos really do speak for themselves. Please do be sure to pay a visit to the incredible Southend Barns Wedding venue, you may even meet their resident dog Marmite and their Alpacas. Find more information on my Southend Barns page.
