When Matt & Kate booked me for their December Winter Wedding I couldn’t wait, and let me just tell you why. They had expressed to me how they wanted a big focus on natural photography – telling the story. So although they obviously wanted portraits of the two of them, they didnt want just the romantic type, they wanted some quirky serious looking ones too. This couple were perfect at the straight faced look (no smiles), not many can do this but I discovered this about them during their engagement shoot which also took place at Southend Barns. Kate and Matt had also explained how they didn’t want all the family formal photographs, instead some of the two of them with their adorable daughter Tibby.
This December Winter wedding was held at the sensational Southend Barns near Chichester, it was a relaxed wedding with lots of friends and children – I think 26 children it was in total! They had hired child carers from Little Top to keep the children entertained so the adults could mingle.
If there’s one thing I love about photographing at this time of year, is when it’s not raining, the light is really cool and white, almost crsip, it’s perfect for taking potraits and I just love the bridal and couple portraits from this December Winter wedding.
It was an absolute pleasure photographing these two, and I was lucky enough to have my friend and talented photographer Si join me as a second shooter until they sat to eat.
Kate is pregnant and was just about showing in time for the wedding, she wore a stunning gown from White Leaf Bridal paired with elegant Rachel Simpson shoes and she looked truly exquisite. Lauren from ID Bridal Hair and Make-up was with us for the morning working her magic with hair and make-up, and I must just mention that they have just won the 2016 Wedding Industry Award as the regional winner for London and the South East!!!! Well done girls eeeek.
Now back to getting ready I just have to add that I completely fell in love with Matt & Kate’s beautiful daughter Tibby! Just look at her here, she is so scrumptious, I seriously wanted to take her home with me, which I think I told them many times! haha
Over to Matt, how dashing did he look in his tweed suit from Walter Slater? I love this look, it works perfectly for a December Winter Wedding too, especially matched with his tan brogues and the thistle in his buttonnaire. Speaking of the flowers, they looked amazing. Rococo, the florist had made the most beautiful bouquet for Kate, it had a real winter country garden look with lots of green and ivory, perfect for a Southend Barns December Winter Wedding.
Southend Barns themsleves and the Field & Fork catering team also did themsleves proud with the barns looking as authentic and luscious as always, with huge wooden beams, candlelit tables and a huge Christmas tree adorned with giant Christmas baubles, it looked magical. You can see this at their Winter Wedding Fair next week on Sunday 24th January.
As always there was sensational food and service as always by Field & Fork. Tartufi Cakes also made this incredible masterpiece of a cake, and I can vouch that it was DELICIOUS!
Fab wedding, fab couple and fab photos – the atmosphere was great with lovely guests and a superb music by band Folk Nights.
A massive Congratulations to you both. I wish you every bit of happiness for your future as husband and wife and hope to do a lovely maternity shoot with you in the Spring Kate!
