This was the first of two elegant weddings at Southend Barns this weekend and despite some horrid weather forecasts, its stayed lovely and dry right up until Matt & Fiona and all of their guests sat down to eat at their wedding breakfast! Southend Barns is a rustic barn with lots of vintage features, yet modern touches added by the owner, Mariella, who has a real vision for all things lovely.
Todays Bride is Fiona, and I had a good feeling about this wedding from the moment she booked me. After learning Fiona is an Event organiser, and seeing her pretty extensive Pinterest pins, I knew this was going to be one classy wedding. Matt & Fiona opted for a black tie affair, just check out their sensational wedding website created by Fiona’s sisters, it shares everything about their wedding, them as a couple and all of the important info that their guests would need to know. With lots of pretty bridesmaids I was really please to see their gorgeous soft pink maxi dresses with plunging 1950’s necklines. It suited the theme of the day perfectly and with Matt and his many groomsmen looked ultra dapper we were set for an exciting day.
We arrived on site early with plenty of time for capturing the details in the Threshing Barn and Dairy Barn. With tall vases, long stemmed hydrangeas and candlelight, the room was set for elegance and class. Even the aisle in the Dairy Barn was decorated with tall candles and petals scattered along the sides. The girls really had thought of every little detail.
The bride wore a Wang inspired dress with a full tulle skirt, it looked sensational with Fiona’s tousled blonde locks and full length veil! Hair and make-up was by the fantastic Lucy from ID in Chichester, now a regular to Southend Barns brides.
Matt and Fiona had a fantastic crowd of friends, with the sister of the bride traveling over from LA with her husband and gorgeous twin baby daughters, there was a friendly, happy and excited atmosphere. The food was by Field & Fork, and it was yummy, we were lucky to have a three course meal, and try all of the same dishes, our favourite was the Bline Salmon. Phil, Janet and the rest of the staff definitely did a fantastic job as always.
The evening was so much fun. Despite the heavens opening outside, funnily enough I think this kept everyone on the dancefloor, that and the sensational DJ. Now many of you who know me will know I am very rarely a fan of DJ’s, I’ve not met many good ones over the years, but Paul Fish Productions who DJ’d on this occasion was actually incredible, we even had a little boogie on the dancefloor before we left!
Although a little overcast at times, the day went magnificently and I adore the photos, we shall be adding lots to this post soon but here’s a handful of our favourites as a little sneak peak.
I must say a huge thank you to Matt & Fiona for choosing us to capture your perfect day. We had a great time working with you, you both looked gorgeous and I wish you both the very best for the future as hubby and wifey. I can’t wait to show you the rest of your photos and I hope you enjoy looking through these to bring back some memories of your perfect day.
